Michael Garvey
Managing Director
Michael Garvey joined the firm in 2004 as a Director. He was previously a Partner with Hicks Baker in Reading and prior to that a Director with Rogers Chapman in Bracknell. He has worked in the Greater Thames Valley region since the late 1980’s.
Michael is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation. He is an Arbitrator and receives appointments from the RICS to resolve rent review and lease renewal disputes. He is also a RICS Registered Valuer.
Michael has a high level of expert witness experience, writing expert reports of a range of matters and has appeared in the High Court and at various planning Inquiries. Other areas of expertise include valuation, development consultancy and sales and letting advice.
In recent years Michael has undertaken a lot of acquisition work for occupiers across a range of property sectors and has been able to use the skills acquired over many years to assist companies with relocation or with opening new ventures.
He is a regular contributor to the national and regional property press and a conference and business speaker, at venues including the Houses of Parliament and the European Parliament in Brussels.
Michael has worked for a wide range of clients across all the agency and professional disciplines, including Standard Life, AXA REIM, Scottish Life, Columbia Threadneedle, LaSalle Investment Management, Legal & General, Norwich Union, Prudential Property Investment Managers, SEGRO, Morley Fund Managers, Foreign & Colonial, CitiBank, GE Healthcare, Game, Energis, British Airways, Nokia, BASF, ASDA Stores, Citizen Watch, Logica, Customs and Excise, The Employment Service and DfEE.

Michael plays an active role in the business community. He is Chairman and Non-Executive Director of Buckinghamshire Business First, a Board Member of the Buckinghamshire (Thames Valley) Local Enterprise Partnership, A Director of Buckinghamshire Advantage, Joint Chair of the Connected Counties broadband delivery board and sits on various committees related to infrastructure in Buckinghamshire.
Michael undertakes pro bono work for a number of charities.
Outside Interests
Michael is passionate about road cycling and is a member of High Wycombe Cycling Club. Chandler Garvey is one of the commercial sponsors.
